The House Of Regal Gentlemen

The House Of Regal Gentlemen is the story of three ex-students who all studied at Chester University's Padgate Campus in Warrington. In June 2007, these three fellows signed a tennancy agreement for a house in Regency Square in Warrington. Hence the name: "Regal Gentlemen".

D Day Part Two

Well the first of two move in days went well. Gareth's parents came up quite early and got his room sorted before my mum and dad had even got to Warrington! Then, once they had arrived, myself and Ben loaded the rest of the stuff in to the van and off we went. It was a long day with an awful lot of awkwardness. Especially trying to get my sofa bed up two flights of stairs (around corners) to my bedroom! Below are some pictures of how the house looks now.

This is the the lounge. There is plenty of room behind the camera lense but we had to just push everything forward to be able to close the door!

This is Gareth's bedroom. Yes it really is that small!

My Bedroom (part one), complete with bed and other furniture pieces.

My bedroom (part two). To the lefty of the sofa bed is where my PC will go, behind the wall where it wont be seen. Wont be too good for watching movies but thats what the sofas for!

This is the legendary tiny cupboard in my room. See, I told you it was pointless! Oh, and my Mum called it a glory hole of all things. She didnt know that that word means something completely different now!

And finally the garden (plus ghostly shadow of the photographer!)

After all this stuff had been dragged in we all went off to Ikea, just down the road. At this point I must thank my parents as they spent quite a fair bit of money on me in the "Swedish Heaven", buying me a wardrobe, tv stand and a swivel chair complete with white leather as well as a few other bits and bobs such as a bin.

Ben also spent the majority of his wages on a new double bed and a weird, open wardrobe. Below is a picture of him struggling to get the mattress onto his trolley at the warehouse. I think its quite hilarious!

So after going back to the house and once again unloading the van, Ben and I were bought dinner at the lovely Toby Carvery by my parents (thanks again guys!) after an excruciating wait in at the bar!

After dinner it was time for the parents to leave, so we said our goodbyes, dropped the keys to the house back at the letting agents and went back to campus happy in the knowledge that in one week we will have left student life for good (well Gareth wont have but whose counting?) and settle into The House Of Regal Gentlemen.

D Day Part One

Well the day has arrived. We are allowed to move our stuff into the house. And believe me, its a lot of stuff! Sofas, fridges, music systems, cupboards, wardrobes and shelving units. Told you it was a lot.

To be honest, Im just passing the time writing this, as it is midday and my parents have just rang me to tell me that they have only just left Northampton! Oh well, all will be alright once they get here. Although was planning on them taking me and Ben to lunch, like thats gonna happen now eh?!

So, this will be the first time that anyone other than the Regal Gentlemen have seen inside The House. We are all hoping that they like it as much as we do and dont find anything to complain about when they see it, could that could just about ruin our vision of house renting utopia.

Anyway, in part two, more pictures from inside The House and of me and Ben falling over in fits of laughter when we probably drop something on the way into the kitchen, living room or bathroom.

Just a Quickie

Just thought Id add the latest news from the week to the blog.

Its been quite a busy week for the Regal Gentlemen this week, our Summer Ball was on Tuesday night so we all got dressed up posh like, went out and got a little silly. Then yesterday, myself and Ben went down to Telford for theunionshow07 run by the NUS for the Bars and Shops that are run by Students' Union's across the UK. Look, I even got a picture with the FA Cup of all things!

So to today. We finally paid the remainder of monies owed to the lettings company. I tell you, it was quite strange walking through Warrington town centre with over 400 quid in my back pocket, and that was each of us!!! After we had paid the money we were given the keys, ready for the primary move in, so we wnt round to have another gander. It looks even better when you know its yours, oh and you'll never believe this... Our landlord is a Captain!!! We saw some of his post that addressed him as Captain (Insert Name Here).

So there we go, today's news. Next update will be after our parents have come up from our respective homes, bringing furniture and the like and helping us move it all in.

I think I can say we are all getting a little bit excited now!

Victory Is Mine!!

Ok, so today, myself, Ben and Gareth sat down to decide who would get which room in the House of Regal Gentlemen. The only fair way we could decide this important competition was by picking names out of a hat. And so it was, all three rooms were decided by the most strange contraption to ever decide a war. Ben's baseball Cap!

As you may have realised by the title of this blog, it was I, Chuckie who claimed the largest (attic) bedroom, with Ben getting the double room on the 1st floor and Gareth, somewhat unluckily, getting the small, single room.

So there we have it, only 2 weeks to go before the move in day and the rooms are decided upon. The most important thing for us to concentrate our efforts on now is stopping Gareth from spending thousands of pounds on a projection system (instead of a TV) for the living room!

The House Of Regal Gentlemen... A First Glimpse

Well, now you know what it is, I present the first pictures of the House of Regal Gentlemen.

The first room of the house is the wonderfully new looking kitchen, complete with washing mahine, cooker and fridges. A lovely spacious kitchen which shall see many a fine dish being created.

The second, and possibly most important room in the house, the Living Room, looks out onto a nicely sized garden, fit for BBQ's and Regal festivals.

This shower, is located strangely in the attic. Yes, the attic people! The bathroom is in fact the ensuite to possibly the best room, and most sought after by each of the Regal Gentlemen, in the house...

The master bedroom. Situated right at the top of the house is this delightfully shaped double bedroom. Although all three of us want to occupy this room, none of us have any idea where the bed would go (answers on the back of a postcard please)! Along with the shower, another strange quirk is the tiny cupboard (unviewable in this picture), that consists of a carpeted shelf above an extra large step. We can only presume that this is where Ben will keep his small child*.

Thats a quick tour of the house. Hope it sheds some light onto it and awakens you more to its beauty and prowess. More pictures will follow of course once we move in and have had a chance to make the place our own. For now I suggest you do what we are doing... Just imagine what an amazing place this will be.

*For legal reasons (and the fact I don't particularly want him to beat me), Ben does not have a small child that he keeps in a small cupboard in his bedroom.

A Regal Gentleman Welcomes You

One welcomes you to One's new blogsite. Okay, I can't do it anymore, speaking in the Queen's English just isn't for me! Im Chuckie, and this is the story of three twenty-somethings's brand new adventure... moving into a house together.

As I said, there are three Regal Gentlemen; myself, Ben and Gareth. We all met while at university in the 'wonderful' north western town of Warrington. Although, not all of us started uni together (Ben and I met as Freshers in September 2003 and then Gareth started his 1st year a year later), we all find ourselves leaving at the same time. Ben couldn't face leaving Padgate and became the Vice President of the Students' Union, while I needed to repeat my 2nd year. Gareth breezed through his degree unfazed. So, as mine and Gareth's final exams came to an end, the three of us decided that we wanted to remain in the North West of England and move in together.

Now, in our minds, finding a house seemed like a very easy thing to do, but has proved a more difficult task than first expected. You see, originally there were just two of us, myself and Ben, flat hunting around the Warrington area, whilst also preparing for exams and working. Then, Gareth threw his hat into the ring and declared "I shall be moving in with you two if you don't mind," in a, dare I say it, very Regal manner. So the flat hunting ended and the house hunting began. About two weeks past before Ben discovered a house on a well known house hunting website that we decided looked cool enough to view. This house shall soon become home to the three of us, and... just to sum it all up rather cleverly, is in a part of Warrington called, Regents Park... hence the House Of Regal Gentlemen.

I hope you enjoy our blog and keep coming back to find out what has been happening to three ex-students who are just starting their life in the "real world".
